With reference to the Foreign Office letter of the

4th October (Reference No. F.5175/5175/10), enclosing a copy

of a dispatch from His Majesty's Minister at Peking regarding

a petition from certain China companies for an amendment of

existing legislation so as to allow them to keep local share

registers outside China, I am directed by the Board of

Trade to transmit to you herewith, for the information of

Mr. Secretary Amery, a copy of a letter which they have today

addressed to the Foreign Office on the subject.
